Holyhead Port as a competent Harbour Authority,  responsibilities include  the safe and efficient working of the Harbour, overseeing  work of the Harbour Master and Technical Services Department. Ensuring  development and compliance with all Company instructions with respect to legislation, internal and external charter parties and external customer contracts. Ensuring that the fabric of the port and all Port Equipment is maintained in compliance with the Docks Regulations, ACOPS, Company Standards and Corporate  Identity. The Port Manager is responsible for the ports property portfolio and ongoing commercial development of the Port.

Harbour Master

John joined Stena Line Ports in January 2022. He has a strong and diverse marine background gained over 40 years in the industry both at sea and ashore.  Following a career in the Merchant Navy, qualifying as a Master Mariner Unlimited, John moved ashore and has held senior management roles in large marine focused companies.  He is committed to making the Harbour a safe, sustainable, and enjoyable environment for all of its current users, and for those that will follow in future generations

Deputy Harbour Master

Mike has worked with the company for over twenty years. His current position as Deputy Harbour master involves overseeing the day to day management of Port Control, the harbour tug, the pilot boat and harbour patrol RIB with his main focus being on safety and conservancy.

Mike’s life outside Stena Line Ports sees him take an active role with Holyhead RNLI where he acts as a Deputy Launch Authority. He enjoys walking, cycling and reading
